Wynn Resort Employees Sharing Tips

Wynn Resorts Ltd. Chairman Steve Wynn announced to their table employees that they would now be sharing the tips they make with the table game supervisors. Feeling that this would shake the company up a bit, Wynn flew in from China to make the announcement himself. They have decided to give the supervisors more responsibilities, and thus close the gap between what the supervisors make and what the dealers bring home.

They are changing their titles from pit bosses and floor supervisors to “casino service team leaders” – and are adding game protection and customer service to their current duties. The casino had applied to the Gaming Control Board to make some changes, but had not informed them as to what those changes were. The Wynn Las Vegas dealers are the highest paid dealers in the city. They earn, on average between tips and salary, roughly $100,000. The supervisors only make $60,000 in comparison.

The change will make the dealers lesser paid, bringing in somewhere around $90,000 with the new team leaders bringing in $95,000. Dealers are less than happy about the change, especially since they will see an average 10% pay cut now. The casino is hoping that dealers will want to start moving up in the company now – as before they were making more money than the positions above them. The other casinos were shocked at the decision, and said that it is commonplace for the dealers to make more – and that they are two different career paths.
