The list is narrowing, as the original 21 applications for a super casino have now been whittled down to seven. The Independent Casino Advisory Panel had narrowed it down to eight, but Wembley Stadium removed their name from the running last week. The hearings to decide where this first slot machine and gambling casino should be built have just started.

The Gambling Act of 2005 states that there will be three types of casinos. The one is the super casino that will have up to 1,250 slot machines and will be the largest of the three in square footage as well as unlimited jackpots on their slot machines. It will also have hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, etc.

The large casinos will have up to 150 slot machines with a maximum payout of £4,000. The small casinos will have up to 80 slot machines with the same maximum payout. There will be eight of each kind approved, and they have narrowed it down to 31 as of last May. With each casino location, there will be public hearings to determine which location will be best, with the opponents and supporters able to be in attendance to give their feedback as well.
