Slot Machine Banking?

So you go to the bank now to gamble? That is how it seems from one Japanese company who is looking to combine the thrill of the slot machine with the thrill of using a banking machine. Seems like a strange combination – playing the slots at the bank – although I guess it could also be seen as brilliant.

Last year, a Japanese Financial Institution by the name of Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank Ltd. decided to try it and see if it worked. They have slot machines at their ATMs now, and customers have the chance to win prizes when they play. They can either win 1,000 yen, or they can win their ATM fee waived instead. They are also adding a roulette wheel to the slot machines as well. After you transfer funds, the wheel comes up so you have a chance to spin and win.

It may not have caught on yet here in the states, but there is nothing wrong with a bank trying to take some of the monotony out of the everyday business of banking by adding a little slot machine fun into your day!
