Roh Moo-Hyun Offers Apology

Roh Moo-Hyun has offered up an apology to his people over the gambling uproar that allegedly involves his nephew and several aids of his.  The government has been the talk of the news with allegations that the government allowed the amount of slot machines to grow at increasing rates, leaving many of his people penniless and addicted to gambling.

"I feel deeply sorry for making the people concerned about the unfolding video game scandal. I would like to offer my sincere apology," Roh said Thursday night on the state-run station KBS. "I know many have waited my apology, but it is my belief that I must be cautious in apologizing for policy errors. That's why I delayed offering of an apology."

"The scandal has been caused by a combination of factors, including loopholes in government policies and systems. The government will work out complete countermeasures to prevent the recurrence of such a scandal," Roh said.

The slot machine scandal is just one on a list of problems the President has had to deal with since taking office in 2003. His administration has been blamed for everything from an economic slump to influence-peddling. According to a recent survey, his approval rating is at a record low of 14.6%.
