Pari-Mutuel Job Fair 

As it gets closer and closer to the day when legalized slot machine gambling is here, more and more employers at the pari-mutuels have discovered that they need more help. Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center was the first to hold a job fair to try and fill some of their positions. It is not surprising that they held the first fair, as they are expected to be the first with the slot machines up and running. 

They are looking for everything from slot machine technicians to customer service reps. The casino has already doubled their employment from 100 to 200, and are looking to add another 300 when all of their 1,500 slot machines are in and running. Initially, they will only have 1,141 slot machines, but that number will grow.  

Salaries are expected to be in the six figure range for senior managers and somewhere around $30,000 for tip earning positions. They not only want people to know that they will make good money here, but they also want them to know that they care about their employees.  One of their executives was quoted as saying, “We want employees who really enjoy coming to work here every day.”
