How Do the Indians Pay?

When playing the slot machines, there is nothing to help you but luck. The slot machines are not games of skill, they are games of chance. Some say it depends on what slot machine you play, others say it depends on the casinos – still others think it depends on the time of day that you play. Some say it doesn’t matter at all – that where, or when, or how – whatever, a slot machine is a slot machine is a slot machine, no matter what.

The casinos will advertise, telling you that there slot machines pay out 97% or that they have the “loosest slots in town”, and try and convince you that if you play their slot machines you will win more. Then, if you don’t win, its because someone else just won – but your chance is coming up! Not true say experts, each time the slot machine lever is pulled, or the button is pushed; you have the same chance as the next time it is done. Whether a machine hasn’t paid out in a while doesn’t matter because at some point it will, but your chances don’t increase just because it has been a long time.

The Indian Casinos keep a close lid on how much they pay out period. While everyone else is running their mouths, they are keeping quiet. “Payout advertisements are just gimmicks to get Joe Public through the door, with maybe only a couple of machines set that high,” said Randy Reedy, slots VP at North County's Valley View Casino. “The real question is: Are the payouts in a high-enough range that patrons feel they are getting enough entertainment value, which they're doing OK on overall return and want to come back and play again.”
