Fleming Under Arrest

In Conecuh County, Keith Fleming has gotten himself into a bit of trouble. He has been operating illegal slot machines at his BP Station. All in all there were five machines seized by deputies, near Interstate 65. Fleming wasn’t arrested until Monday, but only because authorities could not find him.

The district attorney, Tommy Chapman said that they had had officers working undercover for awhile – and they had first hand knowledge of the machines. They observed the slot machines paying out cash prizes to the various customers that were playing them. He said they have been warning people who were operating the illegal slot machines that they were going to start cracking down on them – and he hopes that by arresting Fleming that many of these other establishments will realize that they mean business and close up shop.

If convicted, Fleming could be looking at a large fine and possibly jail time. He was charged with five counts of possession of a gambling device and one count of promoting gambling. There was a $15,000 bond placed on him, which he posted and was released from jail.
