Disclosure of Slots Info Helps Us All
The Associated Press announced that it has “identified at least 20
people on the boards of public agencies and non-profit institutions
who have financial interests in slot machines.” What is important
about this info is how is affects the slot machine licensing in PA –
for some of these people may have influence in places that would make
slot licensing for them a conflict of interest.
Many of the gambling investors sit on public boards, which is not a
big deal, but how do those public boards affect the slot machine
industry? There are many other businesses that could benefit from
someone being in the right place at the right time. Those that hold
these offices have a duty to the public to remove themselves from any
decision that might benefit them financially.
Thanks to the AP for their disclosure of the financial interests of
those competing, for it makes it clearer where those interests lie
when decisions are being made in regards to who gets what contract and
where the slot machine licenses eventually end up.
