Public Officials’ Bank Accounts Investigated

The bank accounts of several public officials have come under scrutiny this week as the Korean government continues its ongoing investigation into the country’s slot machine scandal. The bank accounts of these public figures are being checked into as there is an issue of suspected bribes received from gambling operators. In exchange, the public officials would give them favors, mostly related to the slot machine business.

Earlier this week, they banned the previous Vice Minister of the Culture Ministry from leaving the country, and now they are looking into the fact that the Chief Executive of Andamiro Entertainment created a secret bank account with money used to bribe government officials. Between the governmental officials and the businessmen in this case, it is not looking good as more and more allegations and proof surface in the slot machine scandal.

Korea is currently overrun with slot machines; there are more slots than can support the population. Their people are getting further and further into debt, and suicides and bankruptcies are running rampant. All of this led to the criminal investigation that is currently going on that involves the government as well as the President’s nephew.
