Argosy Casino Growing

Penn National Gaming, Inc. has announced that they will be expanding the Argosy Casino - making it into a much larger floating casino. The new two-story, 250,000 sq ft barge will cost $310 million. Although an expansion had been planned, for roughly $44 million less, the company has decided that this larger version will be better, and has postponed the opening so that they can take the time to really do it right.

The new barge will have many more slot machines, with up to 4,000 slot machines and gaming tables able to come in - and that is just on the first level. The second level will hold another 400 slot machines, a 30 table poker room, and a restaurant. There will be a new parking garage that will hold 1500 cars - which is planned to open late 2007. The casino itself will be done with its expansion fourth quarter of 2008.

The Argosy Casino is already the largest of the three riverboat casinos in the Greater Cincinnati area, and now it will positively eclipse them. It already brings in more than half of the revenue for all three boats. The current casino has 2,400 slot machines and 86 table games, so this is really a huge expansion for the casino.
