Wind River Back in Business

It may be taking them three years longer to open than originally planned, but the Northern Arapaho Tribe’s Wind River Casino is under construction once again. Instead of opening September 2004, it will be opening October 2007.

The tribe had some financing troubles, but with that now out of the way, they can get back to work building it. The new casino will have a lot more slot machines than the current one, which is located across the Little Wind River. The new slot machine casino will cost more than $22 million, all of which is financed from an outside source.

It will be larger than originally expected, and their blueprints have just been updated to reflect that. It will almost double the number of people who work there now, and will leave room for future expansion if it feels necessary. They are already busting at the seams with their old location, which has slot machines and tables galore. The new one will not only have more slot machines and places to put them, but it will also have a larger restaurant.

The casino reports growth of 60% just in the past year, and they expect to start pulling in even more – from places like Montana, where they have started a new ad campaign to bring in more slot machine players.
