Stardust Closing Down

Boyd Gaming has announced that the Stardust will be closing their doors after decades of business. The casino first opened in 1958, and has been host to a slew of celebrities, none probably more famous than Frank Sinatra himself. The casino will close its doors on November 1st of this year, and will be torn down next year to make room for a new casino. The new casino, the Echelon Place, will be a $4 million project – that will have slot machines, hotels, entertainment venues, and retail outlets – basically something for everyone.

With the announcement that the casino will be closing its doors and turning off its slot machines forever, there has been an outpouring of attention to the casino. The hotel has recognized that their regulars, as well as those who have heard about the place but never seen it – know that this is their last chance to get a bit of the Stardust magic. The hotel is completely sold out for its last month of operation, and the final show will be October 28, 2006.

The performers for the final show will be Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, longtime Vegas performers. They also performed the last show for the Circus Maximus venue at Caesars Palace in 2000.
