Religious Leaders Blast Learn and Earn

It seems that it really does not matter what religion you are when it comes to slot machines. The state’s spiritual leaders are teaming up to fight the new slot machine proposal that is on the books for voting in November.

The Catholics, the Black Clergy, United Methodists, Muslims, you name it, they are opposed to slot machines in the state of Ohio. They are taking their message to their congregations, and asking them not to approve the slot machine proposal. The state of Ohio has more than 2 million Catholics alone, not including the large numbers that follow the different congregations. The religious leaders are hoping their followers will make the right decision, and follow their lead.

Their problem isn’t just with the issue of slot machines. They know that the slot machines will bring spiritual and economic pain to the citizens of the state. But their real problem with it is the fact that they feel the group has been misleading in their claims. They say the group is overstating their numbers, and they are really just focusing on the fact that they are providing scholarships to kids and not really telling people that the money will come from slot machines.

They say that they are trying to make people think that it is a vote for education, instead of a vote for slot machines. They say that if it is really a vote for education, then why not give more than 30% to the scholarship fund? The group Learn and Earn says that they are hypocritical; for they allow bingo and/or casino fund raisers, and that they are just doing the same thing. The difference the religious leaders point out is that the money goes to charities, not their pockets.
