Pennsylvania’s Casinos 

With the approval of the slot machine licenses, Pennsylvania is now gearing up to start bringing in slot machines. Here is the run down of the key players: 

Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack: This company is located in Chester and is owned by Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. out of Las Vegas. They will be having harness racing and are expected to have their slots up and running by January 2007. 

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs: This one is located near Wilkes-Barre, and is owned by the Mohegan Sun Gaming authority out of Uncasville, Conn. They also will have harness racing and are expected to be the first slot machines up and running as early as next month. 

Penn National Race Course: They will be located 15 miles east of Harrisburg in a town called Grantville. They have thoroughbred racing, are owned by Penn National Gaming, Inc. from Wyomissing, PA and are planning on having their slot machines running by November of next year. 

Presque Isle Downs: They have not yet received their slot machine license – it is expected to be issued later this month. They are owned by MTR Gaming Group, Inc. out of Chester, West Virginia, and will be having thoroughbred racing as well. They are expected to have their slots up and running in 2007 with their track completed later that same year. 

The Meadows: Located at the Meadow Lands which is 20 miles south of Pittsburgh, they are owned by Millennium Gaming Inc. out of Las Vegas. They are having harness racing, and are expected to have their slot machines ready by April of 2007. 

Philadelphia Park: Located in Bensalem, they are owned by Watche “Bob” Manoukian out of London. They will have thoroughbred racing, and expect to have their slot machines by December of this year.
