PAC for Slots

Those that had TouchPlay lottery machines are up in arms and fighting to bring them back in this November election. When Iowa decided to get rid of the slot machine type lottery game those that had invested in the machines lost a lot of money. They decided to fight Iowa and get the machines back.

They formed Revenues for Main Street Iowa, and have raised over $77,000 since July. The PAC has given $54,000 to those candidacies that support the slot machines, most of them Democrats. Chet Culver, Dem for Governor received $11,000 – and Rep. Kevin McCarthy of Des Moines has received $17,500. Culver also got another $25,000 from William Krause and his son Kyle. They own the Kum & Go convenience store chain that had the TouchPlay machines.

After the Legislature banned the slot machines, those groups that had already put their money into the TouchPlay machines vowed to organize and get the issue back on the November ballot. They say this isn’t about just bringing back the TouchPlay machines, but it is about their group having a larger say in politics. They say they were not taken into consideration when the machines were banned, and that they are such a large group they should have had some sort of say in the matter.
