Muslims Do Not Want Gambling 

The Government is trying to pass a ban on slot machine gambling, and the Muslims are very happy. Yesterday, ASJA president Yacoub Ali said that they thought the choice to ban the slot machines and change the way gambling is handled, it a step in the right direction. He said that “Mankind is not according to the Islamic faith to participate in such games.”

Prime Minister Patrick Manning announced that he is calling for a complete ban on slot machines, and wants to phase out the lottery as well. That includes all of the lottery machines, which really are very similar to slot machines. Ali said that is was a bold move, and one that will benefit their country greatly. He said that crime would undoubtedly drop, as would the amount of drugs in their country.

Ali also said that he was happy that Manning had chosen now to ban the slot machines, as the Muslims are currently observing the Holy Month of Ramadan.  He stated, “I think, as ASJA president, the measure should be applauded. Gambling and forms of intoxicants offend the tenets of the Islamic faith and other faiths as well. Mankind is not permitted to participate in such games.”
