Las Vegas on the Cheap

Not everyone has to spend a fortune when they go to Las Vegas. Yes, there are the glitzy casinos with their slot machines just waiting to take all of your pension fund, but you can cut corners if you just know where to look.

You can stay at any one of the major hotels, but they will put you back a couple of hundred dollars a night easy – more if you stay in a deluxe room. If you choose to stay at a lesser hotel, you can easily get a room for under $100 a night. If you can get one that has a kitchen or at least a kitchenette in it, you can save money on eating out as well. You can also tour a time share while you are out there, sometimes you can get greatly discounted or free hotel rooms, plus shows, gambling credits, you name it. So shop around.

As far as flying, you are going to take a hit there depending on where you are coming in from. If you have miles on any sort of plan, you can use those – but right now airfares are low, so you might stand a good chance at getting a pretty good deal if you shop around. Check all of the discount travel companies, and then check the airlines’ web sites themselves – as they sometimes beat the price of the discount places.

The main expense really is the gambling. If you sit down at a slot machine or a gaming table, keep in mind how much you can truly afford to lose. You can also join their club – some of the casinos will give you a card with money on it if you join their gambling club. Join and then use that money to play your slot machines. Take advantage of all the coupons that are shoved your way and take in a show if you want. There are lots of ways around spending all of your hard earned cash on one vacation, you just have to do your research and find the best deals – and then not spend everything you saved on the slot machines.
