You Think He’d Learn

John Neal just got out of prison 42 months ago. John Neal looks like he is on his way back to prison. He was originally arrested and sent to federal prison for owning a slot machine gambling enterprise. Since his arrest, he has spent his time wisely – he has been rebuilding his empire and making a few political friends in the process.

Not knowing that Neal was under surveillance for owning the slot machines, the Democratic candidates running for office in Delaware County had their meeting at one of Neal’s places of business – and Neal was there. A week later, the feds raided and seized 23 of Neal’s establishments under the Indiana Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Although, it is not like he ever stopped. Some say that he was running his slot machine empire while he was in prison, and just picked it back up when he got out.

This time Neal isn’t going down by himself though – he is taking his daughter and thirty other people with him. They are all facing charges of promoting gambling, money laundering, and corrupt business influence. Police seized more than 300 slot machines as well as more than $2 million in bank accounts. The bars are now in the custody of the police, where they will remain. Neal is in jail under a $2 million cash bond.
