Betfred Expanding to Spain 

There has been some talk as of recent of betting chains setting up shop in Spain. It seems that the owner of Betfred, the 4^th largest betting chain in Britain, has decided that he wants to expand his horizons – all the way to Spain. 

Fred Done, the owner of the bookmaking business, is opening his first shop abroad in Bilbao. He has plans to open other locations as well, but this will be his first. He is already a multimillionaire, but I guess the saying is true that you can never be too rich or too thin. 

He is not alone in his quest, as other British bookmakers have had the same idea. They are considering the fact that Spain is truly an untapped market, and now that they are liberalizing their gambling laws – they are the next logical step for those who wish to expand their practices. 

William Hill and Stanleybet are two other companies who have also thrown their hats into the ring, and feel that they will be more successful than those in the Spanish market as they have been competing for years. Spain is still very new at this, and they feel they have a real opportunity for expansion. Spain is new to the idea of bookmaking, but they are not new to the idea of gambling. Spain is one of the largest slot machine playing counties in Europe. They are huge fans of the slot machines, and play them incessantly.  

They are also huge lottery players, and although illegal, they are also internet slot machine gamblers as well.
