Atlantic City in Trouble?

With the advent of slot machines in Pennsylvania, New Jersey is getting a little nervous. Not a lot nervous, mind you, just a little, or at least that’s how it looks.

We have heard very little from the great state of New Jersey, and even less from Atlantic City. Much of their slot machine revenue comes from the state of Pennsylvania, and with them issuing slot machine licenses this week it could start to get a little hairy for the state. PA is bringing in plenty of slot machines and casinos, enough to service the entire state, and has spread them out across the state so that almost everyone has pretty immediate access to slot machines in their own backyards.

Experts believe, that at least initially, Atlantic City will see a dip in their slot machine revenue as Pennsylvanians go slot machine hopping across the border. With the approval of up to 61,000 slot machines, it will also make them the second largest state with slot machines, right behind Las Vegas – a title that New Jersey used to own.

It is expected that they will hold the number three spot for overall gambling, behind NJ and NV – but keep an eye on them – with all those slot machines who knows what they are capable of.
