Slot Machines Eliminated in Russia
The Duma are
looking to regulate slot machines and gambling in the country, and
have taken steps to crack down on the practice.
Russia
has a real problem with slot machines and slot machine gambling in
their country and it has all but completely taken them over.
The Moscow
Serbsky Psychiatry Institute has come up with research that says slot
macines and gambling has become an obsession with more than 2,000,000
Russians. Moscow alone has 330,000 gambling addicts, and it also has
more slot machines than any other area. If you own just one slot
machine, you can count on roughly $10,000 per month in slot machine
revenue. Slot machines and gambling have brought in $260 million in
revenue according to tax returns.
There are those
that are dead set against the slot machines and the gambling that has
become so prevalent in the country. State Duma member Vladimir
Medinsky actually drafted one of the versions of legislature, and he
suggested that concrete walls topped with barbed wire should be built
around the slot machine parlors and casinos so as to keep the older
and younger members of their society out of the slot machine halls.
