If you are planning on entering a poker tournament there are many things you need to be aware of, especially how it differs from slot machines. Each tournament will be played differently, as the person holding the hand to the right side of you does not play the same as the guy on your left. A poker tournament can easily be won or lost not only by your behavior on at the table, but also the way you take care of yourself when you aren’t at the table. Slot machine tournaments are more about pulling the handle and waiting for your slot machine to hit.

People get into a slot machine or poker tournament and think it will be fun time, but to play your best it really is like work. You have to take care of yourself, for you will usually be playing for several days. If you are going out and partying each night, or not eating right, all of it will catch up to you before the slot machine or poker tournament is over. It is essential that you do everything in your power to maintain yourself, thus ensuring you will be able to last.

Some people play slot machine tournaments, and then move on to poker thinking that they are the same beast. They aren’t, and it is important to remember that. If you are hanging out and partying, it is much easier to sit at a slot machine and play then it is to sit at the poker table and figure out what cards you have in front of you. Comparing a slot machine tournament to a poker tournament is like comparing apples and oranges. The only thing they have in common is the fact that you are betting – and even that is different.
