Pocono Slot Machines Approved

The new Pocono Manor Resort and Casino received their approval this week to open a casino in Tobyhanna Township. The casino has applied for a slot machine license that would authorize them to bring in up to 5,000 slot machines, and the township thinks that is a good idea.

The Tobyhanna Township Planning Commission looked over the preliminary development plans and thought that the proposed slot machine casino looked like something they would want to see in the area. They did however, attach roughly 30 conditions to the approval – including some of which pertain to outside agencies the company must obtain on their own. The slot machine casino agreed to all conditions.

The Pocono Manor Resort is projected to be a $1.4 billion project that will bring in a hotel, a slot machine casino, two golf courses, restaurants, recreational facilities, etc. They will spend hundreds of millions of dollars just during the first phase of the slot machine casino, the preliminary land plan. The land plan will now go to the Tobyhanna Supervisors Board which will ultimately have the final decision in whether or not to approve the slot machine casino.

The casino has to wait until December 20th to find out if they have been approved for the slot machine license or not, and there is no word whether or not they will know if they have approval for the slot machine casino before that date or not from Tobyhanna.
