Micucci Readying for Opening

Paul Micucci is one happy man. He is the track president and general manager of Gulfstream Park, and he is sitting looking at slot machines. He had the honor of accepting the first slot machines to come into Florida Friday morning, and the first of 516 slot machines that his park will operate.  

Micucci would not give a specific opening date for the slot machine casino to open, but he said the he thought it was “weeks and days away” from opening. He said their plan is to have everything open at the same time at the park. They are going to have restaurants, simulcasting, poker, etc., and of course, the slot machines.

Micucci said they are working on getting 1,000 bleacher seats added outside the building, and they think they will have “something to unveil in late November or early December,” and that it “will be ready for the racing season.”

They will also have an increase in personnel. They will employ 600 people when the first phase opens, and then once more than just the racino is open they will add an additional 900 jobs.  slot machine,
