Bingo?

Halloween might be a chance to trick or treat, but some think the new treat at the Cache Creek Casino is not a treat at all. The casino is removing the bingo parlor and events hall so that they can add more slot machines and poker tables. There are those that come faithfully every month to play Bingo, but the draw just isn’t enough. Casino spokesperson Wendy Waldorf says that they have more players asking for more slot machines than they do requesting Bingo, so they have to go where the money is.

Besides, she says that their event center is mostly unused, so they could be using that space to bring in more slot machine revenue. She says that although they are unhappy about the change, their Bingo players will still show up to play the slot machines. The casino currently holds 2,600 slot machines, but they will be adding another 520 slot machines and an additional 30 poker tables – to bring the number of tables to 130.

Waldorf says that people will not lose their jobs; they will just be relocated to another part of the casino. In addition to more slot machines, the casino is also planning on adding a golf course, and all the bells and whistles that go with one – with a 2007 opening.

Bingo was the very first game played there 20 years ago – it seems a shame for it to go away. The new slot machines with the new remodeling should be completed in the spring if everything goes according to plan.
