Trump Still Fighting: Part I of III

There are eleven casinos in Atlantic City, and Donald Trump owns three of them. This would be impressive if two of them weren’t currently listed last in gambling revenues out of every other casino in town. But Donald Trump isn’t the least bit concerned.

Trump’s holding company lost $19 million last year- which might seem like chump change if they weren’t $1.4 billion in debt. Still, Trump is not concerned; he says that they are doing “very, very well” and that he “couldn’t be happier” with their performances.

After the company came out of bankruptcy, they had a new group running the show, but it does not seem to be helping. The Taj Mahal is performing as expected and is the strongest of the three; however, experts say that the other two will not survive in the changing industry.

They say that Trump is not competing at a time when it is most important to do so – with Philadelphia and New York entering the slot machine world and leaving Atlantic City as a whole with less revenues. Experts agree that unless AC changes their modus operandi to something more like Vegas, then they are going to continue to remain the place to be for retirees and coupon clippers.
