Off Track Betting

The Louisiana Downs OTB is officially open for business, and the owners are hoping that they are inundated with wagers. Their manager, Allen Randall, says that he is expecting “legions of fans” to come and place bets on the Preakness Stakes, and any one of the fourteen horses running in it.

He says that the older patrons are the ones that usually come first, and then the others will follow as they get themselves established. However, they are backed by a lot of experience, as Harrah’s Entertainment is the driving force behind the off track betting site.

The location of the site has been sitting empty for the last three years, as it used to house another off track betting parlor – the Winner’s Circle. They expanded upon the existing track located in Bossier City, so that they could change the way people viewed OTB racing in the Mississippi Delta. They have actually opening the first one of its kind for the company and now other states that did not have access to betting now do.

In addition to betting, they also have a bar and restaurant that people can have a break from gambling at. Harrah’s already has several promotions underway to try and bring in more business, such as daily drawings and free hats. They are also planning on expanding to bring in a 48 machine poker room and pool tables as their next step. The company says they are going to continue to look for ways of pleasing their customers.
