Clayton County Arrests

In Clayton County, sheriffs were shocked at some of the patrons of an illegal Atlanta slot machine and poker casino that they busted. One of those arrested was a magistrate judge, and upon further inspection, sheriffs also found powder and crack cocaine, as well as ecstasy. There were 52 people arrested Tuesday night, and all have been charged with misdemeanor gambling.

One of the owners, Wayne Reinhardt, was charged as well with keeping a place of gambling as well as possession of gambling equipment – both counts are felonies. The Poker Palace in Jonesboro had been running an illegal slot machine and poker casino for the past two years, and even had a sign out front announcing itself. It is right down the street from the sheriff’s office and many are wondering how it existed there for so long.

It is not known if the perpetrators knew that they were breaking the law or not, but the sheriff said that it was irrelevant because the law is the law. He said that those that were members of the Poker Palace became so by recommendation of someone who was already a member, so it was difficult to initially get entrance to the casino. However, once they were in, they saw that players had their choice of slot machines or poker to pass the time.

The magistrate judge, who definitely knew better, was identified as Dorian Murray, and his bail was set at $2,500 at his first appearance the next day. He was still sitting in jail as of Wednesday afternoon, and it was not known when he would be bailed out.
