Slot Machines Destroyed

Former Bell Mayor Pete Werrlein had a burglary, but the only busted was him. Turns out Werrlein was operating an illegal slot machine casino in his Running Springs home, and seven slot machines that were seized have just been destroyed.

Werrlein was being robbed when Deputy Derrick Willies arrived at his home. The deputy went inside to see if anyone was still there, and discovered the illegal gambling location. The deputy returned with a warrant and they seized the illegal slot machines. This is not the first time that Werrlein has been arrested for illegal gambling, so you think he would have learned his lesson.

However, those slot machines have just been destroyed by order of the San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Barr. The slot machines have been sitting in the evidence room at the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s station for over a year now, and last Thursday they were destroyed. Asset Management and Disposition Services came and loaded them into a truck, where they were taken to a recycling location in Rancho Cucamonga. They were dismantled, and authorities say that roughly 95% of the slot machines will be used elsewhere.

Now that the slot machines have been dismantled and their pieces distributed, a certificate of destruction will be made out for the court. A copy is also given to the California Integrated Waste Board, and the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station.
