Presque Isle Downs Almost Open
MTR Gaming Group is hoping to open the Presque Isle Downs slot machine
casino before the end of the month, now that certain legal hurdles
have been gotten over. The company had some issues that had been
holding them back from opening their slot machine parlor, and now they
are back on track.
The slot machine casino has been trying to get approval from the
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, but was having problems getting it.
First there was a position that needed to be filled on the Board, and
they had to wait for that to be finalized. Now that it has been, they
can move on.
Next they had a pending lawsuit against them, it was a Petition for
Review of the Order. The Gaming Control Board could not issue them
their official slot machine license while they had legal proceedings
affecting their status. However, the PA Supreme Court granted the
motion of MTR’s wholly owned subsidiary – Presque Isle Downs – for
“expedited consideration and summary relief” to “quash” the petition.
Now that those are out of the way, it does not seem that there is
anything left to hold back the slot machine casino, and they and the
Gaming Control Board are moving forward with the issuing of the slot
machine license. They can now open the slot machine casino as well as
their restaurants, as construction in complete, and all of the permits
for the restaurants and liquor licenses have been issued.
