New Casino Bill in NH

New Hampshire has seen a new casino bill introduced into the Senate by Republican State Senator John Gallus. He is trying to get Senate Bill 225 passed in the Senate that would help bring a casino to Pease International Tradeport.

For years, Senators have been trying to get this bill passed as it would do some good for New Hampshire, but it would do a lot for the city of Portsmouth and Gallus’ hometown of Berlin. It would authorize the building of a resort and casino in Portsmouth which would revitalize the area. He wants to bring in an “economic development resort” which would truly help the area.

The bill would also allow slot machines in Northern Coos County, which would help the county as well as they are sure to see some of the revenue from it. Every few years someone tries to pass a bill legalizing slot machines in New Hampshire, and so far none of them have passed. Just five years ago a bill came through that would have put a casino in Berlin itself but it was defeated. It would also have legalized slot machines at the state’s racetracks, but it was defeated as well.
