Nevada Casinos Get Record Win

With all the talk of Macau passing the slot machine and gambling revenue of Las Vegas, many don’t realize that Las Vegas had an all time record gaming win of $12.6 billion this past year. They also don’t realize that Macau compares itself to the Strip, which only takes into consideration one part of Nevada gambling, and one part of Las Vegas gambling and revenue.

Some say that comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges for they truly are dissimilar. Experts say that the numbers in Macau are talking about the strip – but that the way they figure their numbers is very different from the way Vegas does. They say that they brought in $6.95 billion, and that Vegas only brought in $6.69 billion – which again is only the Strip.

No matter what figures you are using however, Vegas still brought in record numbers for a gaming win – as they show an overall increase of 8.3%. The Strip’s casinos though are where Vegas really looks to see how their slot machine and poker players are doing. They increased their winnings 10.9% over the previous year, which is a huge change for the state.

They also point out that the previous year (2005) had Wynn Las Vegas see its opening, and in 2006 they actually had fewer casinos as the Boardwalk closed in January and the Stardust closed on November 1st.
