Mass Needs to Embrace Slot Machines

So many residents of Massachusetts are going across the state line to play the slot machines at Foxwoods that many think they should just legalize them in the state. There are roughly seven million visits a year from Massachusetts residents to go play the slot machines over at Foxwoods, and many think that this is revenue that should be spent in their own state.

With Governor Deval Patrick leaving it sort of up in the air as to whether or not he will pursue legalizing slot machines, those in favor of them are pushing for it. Patrick has said that he would like to have a small study done before next year’s budget, to see where legalizing the slot machines might lead them.

Surprising though, is the number of residents that do not want to see slot machines brought into the state. Even though they would be looking at hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue that is currently supporting their neighbor, they say that they amount of problems that come with slot machines just isn’t worth it.

However, it seems that the voices that are loudest these days are those that are in favor of them, and with the governor looking into it, slot machines could be legalized within the next two years. Supporters say that the state cannot afford to allow their residents to spend their money in another state, when the money they would get from slot machines would do so much good in their state.
