Ladbrokes Wants the Supercasino

Everyone knows by now that Manchester beat out many other cities to win the first UK supercasino, a coveted treat that many felt should have gone to Blackpool because of the dire straights that the town is in. However, Britain chose Manchester, which left them with the job of finding someone to run it for them.

But now it looks as though Ladbrokes is putting their hat into the ring, as Manchester has reopened the bidding for the contract to run the supercasino. Originally many thought it would be a local company that took it over, and it seemed that Manchester had made their decision if they had gotten the casino. However, with them actually getting the nod, they have chosen to re-evaluate the company that they were planning on working with.

Many think that Ladbrokes will announce their interest in the supercasino at their 2006 earnings report, as that would be the perfect venue for it. The supercasino will have 1,250 slot machines, dozens of table games, and 5,000 sq ft of gaming space.

The casino will also host close to 3,000 workers, which will make the benefit to the area immeasurable. If Ladbrokes chooses to run, their shares could rise which would also be good for the company whether or not they get the supercasino.
