Foxwoods’ Deal on the Up and Up?
When the slot machine licenses were handed out, many thought that they
didn’t make a whole lot of sense. One problem that most people had
with the slot machine licenses was the fact that the PA Gaming Board
chose to put two casinos on the Delaware River waterfront, right in
Philadelphia. Everyone knows that the traffic in the city is terrible,
and the waterfront is one of the most clogged areas of all.
Then the gaming board came out and said that they chose Foxwoods as
one of the waterfront locations because they had no ties to Atlantic
City. However, Foxwoods has been considering going into Atlantic City,
so who is telling the truth? Could it be that the slot machine casino
didn’t tell the gaming board about their AC plans? Or did the gaming
board know and just use this as an excuse to cover up the real reason?
Because of the vagueness surrounding the issuing of the slot machine
license to Foxwoods, many feel that it might be time to re-evaluate
the licenses all together. Many are calling for a court review of the
slot machine license issuing process, since there seems to be some
problems with them. The state Supreme Court could become involved if
any of the rivals for those slot machine licenses decide to start
poking around and asking questions.
There is a good chance that that is exactly what will happen, because
the slot machine licenses for the ones in Philadelphia are bound to be
tremendous money makers. The slot machine licenses were wanted badly
enough, that if it seems that there was any shady business, someone
will go to the Supreme Court and have it investigated.
