Brown Wants Online Gaming

Gordon Brown has a plan to bring the online gambling industry to the UK. He thinks that if he is able to convince the gambling industry to be regulated and licensed by the UK that they will be able to bring in tax revenues that could greatly help the country. Now with the US working to eliminate all of the online slot machines and gambling that has been going on, many of these companies are looking for a new home.

The Treasury has decided that by courting the big companies such as PartyPoker, 888, Ladbrokes, etc. and other gambling companies that are currently located in Gibraltar, etc. that they will reign in the industry and profit considerably by it. They are willing to work them a deal as well, so that they are getting a good deal while the country is benefiting from them.

In September the UK is going to make the offer for the offshore gambling companies to relocate to the UK and get a license to operate, plus they will get a discount on the tax that they would have to pay – somewhere in the range of 2c or 3pc, and they will be able to avoid paying the British VAP.

Many companies have already said that they will move to the UK if there is a discounted rate since the landlocked casinos pay a tax of up to 40pc and they are not willing to pay that. They have not yet decided what the exact rate will be, but it will be severely discounted. The Remote Gaming Duty as it would be called would be a major change from the US’s crack down on the industry – and the US’s nearsightedness is going to be the UK’s gain.
