Table Games Fight Not Over Yet

The West Virginia Family Foundation, a religious conservative group, is against the addition of table games to the West Virginia gambling industry. They say that slot machines are already more than enough, and that their constitution has been misread and manhandled to try and make it seem as if table games are legal. They say that the expansion of gambling is unconstitutional and they are looking to get it overturned.

One county has already voted the table games in, and another has not – while two more counties have yet to vote. The foundation says that they are not going to try and stop the elections; they are simply going to try to overturn any vote that is made. They tried going to the state court, but they refused to hear the case – so now they are taking it to federal court.

Originally, the group’s president said that he was going to wait to see what came of the other two votes before proceeding, but in the end he changed his mind and they decided to file their lawsuit within the next three weeks.

The group thinks that the fact that the state refused to hear the case speaks volumes as to the amount of money that has changed hands to buy this vote. They say that they are putting revenue above the law, and that the constitution is pretty clear about what is allowed and what isn’t - and table games are not allowed.
