Meadows Getting Ready for Slot
Machines
The Meadows Racetrack is putting the finishing touches on their
temporary slot machine casino, and are planning on having their grand
opening on June 5th. Their new slot machine facility will be next door
to the track. They are prepping every last detail for they know that
they are going to be the first slot machine casino in Southwestern
Pennsylvania.
Hundreds of employees, engineers, auditors, attorneys, Gaming Control
Board members, etc. are all watching and waiting to see if they will
be able to open as planned. The Gaming Board officials will be there
in a monitoring position initially, but they have many more
responsibilities before the casino actually opens than after it is
done.
Many are wondering if they will pass the initial testing phase on the
first try as most casinos do not. The Board says that they are there
not to trip people up, but to simply maintain the status quo, and to
ensure that everything is done by the book. They have been on site
since May 14th and are expected to be there long after the casino has
already opened.
The Meadows will be the fifth to open in the state with slot machines,
so it isn’t like this is new to the regulators; they have already been
through this four times before. The same steps are taken with each of
the casinos, and all of the checks and balances must be in place
before they can open.
