Family Foundation Outraged

The West Virginia Family Foundation is outraged that the police and fire officials from the county are lending their support to bringing in table games when they know that they will bring in more crime. They say that the county employees are saying that expanding gambling won’t increase crime, but the foundation says that it will and they are horrified that they would condone it.

Kevin McCoy, who runs the foundation, says that it is a “crying shame” that their law enforcement personnel would support “an issue that ultimately comes back to haunt them.” McCoy says that it is the money talking, and not the common sense of the enforcement personnel.

Fire and police employees are supporting the bill as they say that it won’t increase crime, but it would help fund their pensions. They are lending their names and photos to a flyer that has come out in support of the table games bill. They say that they don’t see crime increasing, but that the bill is not only good for their pensions, but that it is good for jobs and tourism in the county.

Recent reports have come out that suggest that crime would increase substantially after the table games come in, but those same reports say that since they already have slot machines, it may not increase as much as it would have when the slot machines were first added. The election will be held on August 11th.
