Special Election Day Quickly Approaching

With only two more days until residents know if table games are legal in two West Virginia counties, the clock is ticking and everyone is upping their game. With the latest appeal from the West Virginia Family Foundation having been rejected by the courts, many are scrambling to come from another angle.

The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals rejected the group’s legal challenge agains the bill saying that it was unconstitutional – the court found otherwise and refused to hear the challenge. So now that that is out of the way, the tracks just have to focus on the vote itself.

The Foundation says that the “state’s moral foundation is crumbling” and that the court is obviously picking “revenue over the rule of law.” They say that they are competing against the special interest groups to get what is right, and what is fair, but they don’t have the money to pump into the government that the gambling groups do.

However, supporters could not be happier, as they know the good that will come from the games being legalized. They say that their communities need the jobs that will come from the table games, and the schools need the money. The mayor said that those that don’t want to see gambling simply need to create 500 new jobs in Kanawha County, then they will stop trying to pass table games.
