Safe Graduation Leads to Casino Night

Seniors from East Chapel Hill High School and Chapel Hill High Schools are attending “Project Graduation,” an all-night, alcohol and drug free event that is put on each year for Chapel Hill-Carrboro graduating seniors. The event has two student chairs and 55 committee members, and is a truly all night affair.

The event starts at 11 p.m. and ends at 4 a.m. the night after graduation, and stakes place at the University of North Carolina’s Student Union. Almost all students from the graduating classes usually attend the annual event, with this year being the 14th year that the event has been offered.

The event is sponsored by local businesses, who also give away prizes that will be given out through raffles. Students can win computers, college scholarships, iPods, etc, and each student can bring one guest to the party to help them celebrate.

The event includes games like laser tag, jousting, sumo wrestling, pool playing, bowling, video games, a moonwalk, a giant slide, etc. But the one thing that many of them have been looking forward to is the casino games that are going to be offered. Many of them have never gotten a chance to participate in any sort of slot machines or gambling, and even though it is all for fun, it is something they have been looking forward to.
