Nobody Likes an Addict
Everyone knows that with gambling comes addiction, especially with the
slot machines which some people equate to the high you get from drugs.
But some people believe that the casinos want to see gambling addicts
at their casinos because it means more money for them.
Not so say casino officials; in fact, they don’t want them anywhere
near their casinos. All casino employees are trained to keep an eye
out for anyone they suspect may have a gambling problem, so that they
can be removed from the casino. They only want people in their casinos
that can handle the excitement and thrill that comes from the game in
a healthy way.
The casinos know that out of 50,000 slot machine players that walk
into a casino, a few thousand of them are addicts. They know this
because first of all the slot machines are the most addictive game,
and they also know from the desperation that you start to see in a
slot machine addicts eyes.
That is why they train their employees to look for the warning signs
that someone has or might be developing a problem with the slot
machines or with any kind of gambling. They also put out literature
from Gamblers Anonymous, and places where they can seek help. There is
also an option for them to voluntarily exclude themselves from the
casinos, and the casinos will check the list to ensure that no one is
sneaking in.
They want people to have fun, and yes give them their money. But no
one likes an addict, not even those that make their money off of them.
