Harding Steps Down from William Hill

David Harding has announced that he is stepping down from the top spot at William Hill. Undoubted considered to be one of the online gambling industry’s top movers and shakers, Harding has held the position for seven years, and is well respected among his peers. Harding said it was time for a “new challenge” which is what prompted his resignation.

Harding will walk away with somewhere in the realm of GBP 7 million as he leaves his position, making him a very wealthy man. He has already made more than GBP 3 million in the past two years, due to the way he has led the bookmaker to success. When he took them over the share price was worth less than half of what it is now, and the company says that although they are “comfortable” for now, they will be expecting to see somewhere around GBP 297 million come in this year.

Harding owns GBP 5.4 million worth of stock options, and if you combine that with salary, bonus and pension, he will presumably never have to work again if he chooses not to. Harding has chosen to step down for “personal reasons” and the company says that he is “in good health.”

The company has not named a successor yet, and is presently attempting to find one. Harding has agreed to work with the company and with the board to train his successor and to help them out until a replacement can be found. Factoring into his decision no doubt is the fact that he just became a father, and wants to slow down his pace a little.
