Swedish Gaming Board Cracking Down

The Swedish Gaming Board is going after casino related companies within Sweden to ensure that they are complying with the law. The law clearly states that for gaming companies listed in Sweden they must have a license, and if they do not, the penalties are very strict.

Those that are breaking the law could be looking at fines as well as imprisonment up to two years. The idea is that they can have their company listed there, but they cannot work with gaming related tasks, nor can any of their employees. It does not matter that most of their revenue comes from gaming; they still have to show that they are abiding by the rules.

One of the first to be targeted is the online poker company 24h Poker, and the board has asked for detailed information on their company, including info on all of their employees of the firm working in Sweden. They also have to show job descriptions and use of company trademark, as well as several other things.

Hakan Hallstedt, Chief Legal Advisor for the Swedish Gaming Board, says that 24h Poker is just the first, and that more companies are going to be asked to give them the same kind of information about their businesses as well. He said they are planning on making a very complete and thorough investigation of all of the gaming related companies in the country.
