Poker’s Big Five

Bluff Europe releases a list each year of the top places in which to play poker. Each year, the poker magazine lists the top places in Europe based on certain criteria that they think are the best places in which to play the game. The magazine is easily Europe’s most widely read poker magazine, and this year they put London at the top of the list.

The list will come out in the July issue and the criteria with which they judge the cities includes enthusiasm for the game in the city, number of places to play, gaming laws enforced for each city, the kinds of games they offer, and the number of high profile TV related tournaments they offer. This year London was top dog, with Dublin, Tallinn, Barcelona, and Monte Carlo following.

They said that although it was tough to decide out of all the cities who was the best one, but they said that London had to win it hands down. Michael Caselli, the Editor in Chief for the magazine said that playing poker in London is unlike anywhere else. He said that between the tournaments, the new poker venues, the different places to play – home vs. private clubs vs. pub tournaments – poker was quickly becoming one of the most popular games in the city.

Caselli said that because of the way the laws are now structured in England, that they have made it even easier for people to play the game. He said that “if you want a game, anytime day or night” that you would be able to find it in London.
