Treasure Cove Approved for Slot
Machines
Treasure Cove has gotten the official approval from the Prince George
City Council to add another 175 slot machines to the ones they already
have. After a lengthy three hour deliberation, at which about a
hundred people showed up, the city said that it would be in the best
interests of all if they were to get their slot machine addition.
John Major, owner of the Treasure Cove, said that there is a high
demand on the weekends for slot machines, and that they just did not
have enough to meet that demand. Major said that they wanted to add
more slot machines and a new show lounge to meet the need. He said
that many of the players who are signed up in the casino are from out
of town, and that by adding more slot machines they would be able to
bring in even more traffic to the area.
Major said that currently they have 9% coming from out of Province or
country, 36% from out of Prince George, and 55% from Prince George. He
says that with the additional slot machines they will now be able to
meet the need and increase revenue for everyone. They will also be
adding more parking spots and better noise buffers for their
neighbors.
With the additional slot machines, Treasure Cove will become one of
the biggest slot machine parlors in the province. They will be in
fifth with their 575 slot machines total, behind Boulevard Casino in
Coquitlam (they have 950 slot machines), River Rock Casino & Resort in
Richmond (they have 918 slot machines), Gateway Casino in Burnaby,
(they have 679 slot machines), and Edgewater Casino in Vancouver,
(they have 600 slot machines).
