PA Slot Machines Off to a Good Start

Anyone wondering how the slot machines would fare in Pennsylvania need look no further – they are bringing in millions of dollars in slot machine revenue. In the first week of January alone, the two slot machine parlors brought in $8.8 million. They have brought in more than $40 million since the slot machines started running last year.

This number is the amount that slot machine gamblers lost and it gets split between the casinos, public education, racetrack purses, etc. They expect that the slot machine revenue numbers will continue to increase, possibly into the billions. According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, $427.3 million has actually been gambled at the slot machines, and $386.9 million was paid back to slot machine players.

The slot machine revenue is coming from the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and Philadelphia Park – which opened in November and December, respectively. The Gaming Control Board releases the slot machine revenue numbers weekly on their web site so that everyone can see how the casinos are performing.

Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack will be opening their slot machine parlor later this month if all goes according to plan. There are also three more racetracks bringing in slot machines, as well as the free standing slot machine casinos that will be opening across the state.
