Patrick Proposing Fees and Slot Machines
Governor Deval Patrick has a list of things that he wants to
accomplish in his new role and the amount of deficit that he has been
left by the last governor is making it difficult. Therefore, he is
coming up with some ideas on how to help him with that deficit and
slot machines are definitely on the table.
One thing he is considering is to charge fees to those to commit
crimes and those fees will help him pay for the police force. He says
that since it is the criminals that are using so much of the manpower
of the police, there is no reason why they can’t fund them. The
criminals aren’t very happy about this, they say they already have too
many fees that have been put on them, and their advocates say the
same. However, truth be told, if you don’t commit a crime, you won’t
have to pay for the police.
Patrick also said that he was planning on giving an increase in aid to
the local communities, and wanted to know what they thought about
legalizing slot machines. He said that he is considering legalizing
the slot machines, but has not made up his mind, and he would like
their input. He knows that if he does legalize the slot machines he
will be bringing millions if not billions of dollars of funding into
the state and thus assisting to eliminate the budget deficit.
