Macau’s Slot Machine Casinos
With Macau having brought in more than $6 billion last year in gaming
revenue, it is no wonder that more and more slot machine casinos are
trying to get a piece of this rapidly expanding pie. Experts know that
Macau is growing much faster than Las Vegas is, and although Vegas
still brings in close to $10 billion a year, Macau is hot on their
heels. They say that Macau’s slot machine and gambling casinos could
bring in more than $8 billion next year.
So who is trying for this pie? Many Vegas based slot machine casinos
are opening another location in Macau as well. Are they hedging their
bets? Not really, because no one thinks that Macau will ever eliminate
the need for Las Vegas, but if there is another fast growing market in
the same area of business that you are in – you would be an idiot not
to take advantage of that.
They have seven new slot machine casinos that opened last year. The
Wynn Macau opened with more than 1,300 slot machines and 500 gaming
tables. The Sands Macau brought in more than 1,254 slot machines and
740 gaming tables. The Venetian Macau will have more than 4,000 slot
machines and 850 table games.
The Cotai Strip will have more than 2,900 table games and 16,000 slot
machines. They also expect non gaming revenue such as hotels and
retail to increase as they don’t have as many options for that sort of
income as Las Vegas currently does. By adding those things to their
slot machine and gambling revenues, they could be looking at more than
$13 billion in revenue.
