Putin Signs Slot Machine Bill

Moscow had some exciting news today in the world of slot machines and gambling – depending on what you do for a living, it could either be very exciting, or very depressing. President Vladimir Putin signed a bill into law last Saturday that will officially close all casinos and slot machine halls across the majority of the county by mid-2009.

Putin has been trying to eliminate much of the slot machines and gambling that has been infiltrating the country for the last few years. He believes that there will be less slot machine and gambling addictions if all of the casinos and parlors are either eliminated or moved to one of four gaming zones.

The areas that the slot machines and casinos are moving to are located in Kaliningrad, Siberia, near Krasnodar, and near Primorsky – places that are currently wilderness with no buildings, etc. of any kind. This would put all of the slot machines far away from Moscow.

The bill passed the upper and lower houses of parliament without a problem, so it was expected that Putin would sign it into law.
